Cambridge Crime

Wow Cambridge does get a lot of crime! My crime number is CF0286550505 thats a 10 digit number since the world population is 6,000,000,000 (or so) folks or so it means that every person on the planet could be a victim of Cambridge crime around 676 times. No wonder the police are so busy!

Welcome to Cambridge!

Just back from Palermo in Sicily where we were walking the streets in safety at midnight.

I got off bus at Drummer street around 12.45am. Suzanne went home in taxi. I started walking home. Helped some Chinese guy on his bike at the corner of Regent Street / Drummer street to find Leys Ave.

Just walking past Emmanuel College near Maplins when one of three white guys all dressed in hoodies decide to lash out at me - belting me behind my left ear. I gave chase but they ran faster and get this; some youths on other side of road started egging them on. What a great country we live in! Welcome home to Cambridge. Called police when I got home but no sign of them yet.

Update: PC1523 arrived at 3:45 to take a mini statement. Apparently a full statement will take about 90 minutes to take and will happen some time in the next 7 days. After I have been allocated a case officer.

Infectious Greed: Companies Don't Know What They Have

Interesting mention of advisory boards also mentioned at yesterdays Technology World by Dr Stewart Davies. Apparently advisory boards are better than non-execs as they are not legally liable for their actions.Infectious Greed: Companies Don't Know What They Have

The Law of Accelerating Returns

Amazing article describing how it took billions of years for life to evolve and how the rate of change speeds up with time. Extrapolatingto the future he calculates (conservatively) that * We achieve one Human Brain capability $1,000 around the year 2023.
* We achieve one Human Brain capability for one cent around the year 2037.
* We achieve one Human Race capability for $1,000 around the year 2049.
* We achieve one Human Race capability for one cent around the year 2059.

Which just goes to show that NT could be nearly right in that we will be last generation to die.

Also the article goes to show that we the only planet to have intelligent life.

Scoble’s Link Blog ? Blog Archive ? Johnnie Moore’s Weblog - Waterfalls and chaos (from: PubSub: Scoble)

A really cool graph of how design REALLY works. Reminded me of Nick and I installing his new Arke staircase. That is taking constructing it partially and then taking it out etc etc until we got it to fit. Which it did rather well in the end.

Scoble’s Link Blog ? Blog Archive ? Johnnie Moore’s Weblog - Waterfalls and chaos (from: PubSub: Scoble): "I linked to this paper on wicked problems
the other day, and Chris Corrigan commented “there’s a lot in that
paper eh?”. Which is true. Here’s another part of it that has stuck in
my mind."
